Privacy notice
This notice explains what personal data this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated 8 August 2026.
Who is responsible
Katharine Quinn is the data controller for personal data collected through katharinequinn.com. You can reach her at hello@katharinequinn.com.
What is collected
The only place this site collects personal data is the inquiry form on the contact page. When you submit it, the following are collected:
- The kind of inquiry you select
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your organisation, if you provide one
- The content of your message
Nothing else on this site collects personal data. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
Why, and on what basis
Your details are used for one purpose: to read your inquiry and reply to it. The lawful basis is legitimate interests, specifically responding to someone who has deliberately contacted a business to start a conversation. If a conversation leads to work together, the basis becomes performance of a contract.
Your details are never sold, never rented, and never added to a marketing list without you asking for that separately.
Who else handles it
Three third parties are involved in running this site:
- Basin receives and stores inquiry form submissions, and sends the notification email. Basin is based in the United States.
- Webflow hosts this website, using Cloudflare to serve it. Both are based in the United States. Their systems process your IP address as a necessary part of delivering the page to you.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces used on this site, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
The newsletter, The Next Audience, is published on Substack. Substack is a separate controller with its own privacy policy, and subscribing there is governed by that policy rather than this one.
Where it goes
Because these providers are based in the United States, submitting the form transfers your data outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Those transfers rely on the providers’ own safeguards, including standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US and UK–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long it is kept
Inquiries are kept for as long as they are useful for the conversation they started, and no longer than three years from your last contact, after which they are deleted. If a working relationship follows, the relevant records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Cookies
This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies, so there is no consent banner. Cloudflare sets one strictly necessary cookie to keep the site working and secure. It does not track you across sites and is not used for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, ask for its use to be restricted, object to it being used, and ask for it in a portable format. To do any of these, email hello@katharinequinn.com. There is no charge, and you will get a reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or to your own national data protection authority.
